Rosales 6 shots adrift; Delasin barely survives

-
The Philippines’ Jennifer Rosales followed up her first-round 68 with a one-under 70 – a score which proved mediocre on another day the Highland Meadows Golf Club got severe beating from the touring ladies in the LPGA Jamie Farr Classic in Sylvania, Ohio.

Rosales’ two-day haul of 138 was good only for a share of 11th place in the tourney still paced by Laura Diaz.

Fil-Am Dorothy Delasin fired an even-par 72 and barely made the cut at 142.

In contrast to her first round, Rosales struggled on the back nine as she slipped four rungs down from joint sixth. She’s six strokes off the pace at 138.

Rosales, who highlighted her first-round 68 with a birdie-birdie finish, wound up one-under this time with a bogey mishap on No. 16.

She went two-under on the front nine with birdies on Nos. 1, 6 and 9 against a bogey on No. 7.

Diaz fired a four-under 67 to extend her lead to three strokes after the first two rounds.

Diaz, who shot a 65 on Thursday, was at 10-under 132 after 36 holes of the $1 million event which was hit by a two-hour weather delay.

Hee-won Han of South Korea was second at seven-under 135.

Diaz had four birdies, including a chip-in with a sand wedge on the third hole.

"I hit it a lot better today than I did yesterday, but I didn’t make as many putts," said Diaz.

"I had two really good opportunities on first two holes about a 12-footer and a nine-footer that I didn’t make, but I chipped in on third hole.

"It was just one of those days where you wish you made few more putts, but like I said yesterday you got days where you make a lot and days where you don’t."

Han had five birdies and also chipped-in from 20 yards on the first hole as she finished with a 67.

"It was pretty hot out there, but my irons were good," said Han. "Yesterday and today, I saved par in difficult situations a lot.

"I’m comfortable and my shots are pretty good., My driver was not good this week, but my irons were good and my putting was good."

There were five golfers within four shots of Diaz, including Se Ri Pak of South Korea. (With AFP report)
