18 clubs vie in Luzvimin Invitl

Eighteen clubs led by defending division champions Sta. Elena, Villamor and Manila Golf are seeing action in the 11th Luzvimin Invitational of the Womens Golf Association of the Philippines slated Aug. 20-22 at the Cebu Country Club course.
Sta. Elena will be eyeing a repeat in the premier Diamond division, Villamor will be out to defend the Ruby division while Manila Golf will be seeking a back-to-back feat in the Pearl division.
Sponsoring this years tourney are the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office, Philippine Sports Commission, San Miguel, Coca-Cola and Philippine Airlines, the official carrier.
There are 136 players who have registered so far for one of the biggest events in the WGAP calendar.
Some of the players participating are former national players Lina de Guzman, Lucy Landicho, Carmelette Villaroman and Lora Roberto.
Meanwhile, after five legs of the WGAP Circuit, Alabang is leading the race for berths to the season-ending WGAP Cup.
Alabang had won three Class C titles and one each in Class A and Class B for 26 points.
Villamor is running second with 13 points after winning Class B thrice and Class A once while Sta. Elena and Wack Wack are third and fourth, respectively, with 11 and 10 points. Forest Hills (9) ranks fifth, then Southwoods (8), Aguinaldo (6), Malarayat (3), Navy (2), and Riviera (2).
