Borja, Dominic Ochoa share kleiglights in Ford Lynx Cup

ROSARIO, Batangas – Jeff Jan "JJ" Borja and actor Dominic Ochoa posted separate victories to share the limelight in the initial staging of the TRS-Ford Lynx Cup recently at the Batangas Racing Circuit here.

Taking their first plunge in an actual car racing competition, all seven participating drivers were pacing a little slow as they tried to familiarize themselves with the race course and traction of the track in this event sponsored by Ford, Standard Insurance, Goodyear Tires, Adidas, Red Horse Beer, Ambi Pur Car Perfume, Race Gear Pit Shop, Batangas Racing Circuit and media partners C! Magazine, Auto Extreme, The Philippine STAR, MTV – the official Music Channel, Trapik.com and motorista.com.

Borja, a 24-year-old Speedcash Lending manager, held the pole throughout and wrapped up the first race in 18:22.852 to emerge the first winner – by a mere 2.587 seconds ahead of runner-up Simon Gemayal.

Ochoa finished third, clocking 18:31.688 while Edgar Quesada and female driver Pia Boren wound up fourth and fifth.

However, all the drivers turned even more daring in Race 2 despite the afternon showers.

Ochoa squeezed his way in front at the green signal and held his post from thereon. Borja tried to chase Ochoa, hitting a fast laptime of 1:47.100 on the sixth lap to forge an exciting battle down the stretch.

But Borja’s efforts fell short as Ochoa prevailed in the photo finish by just 0.867 of a second that drew big cheers from the crowd.

Quesada registered 18:38.246 to claim third place while Boren and Matthew "DJ Matt" Yngson followed fourth and fifth, respectively.
