The 202 0202 team of John Aguilar, Noelle Wenceslao and Dexter Tiangco grabbed the P100,000 top prize in Del Montes The Great 202 Quest, a grueling three-day adventure race of wits and brawns that started at the Quezon Memorial Circle and ended in Albay.
The 202 Lucky squad of Tricia Chiongbian, Flip Corpus and Tristan Buan turned out to be unlucky, finishing only third after leading for two straight days.
The 202 Crush ng Bayan, composed of Carlo Ledesma, Charlene Lontoc, and Raul Padilla Jr., which was eating dust since day one, finally showed everyone that, aside from good looks, they had the spirit of real winners.
The 202 Torpedoes, a strong contender for the top prize, was eliminated on day two.
Awarding the teams were Carol De Leon, Del Monte 202s senior product manager for Beverage, and Leah Santos, product managfor juice drinks . Aside from cash prizes, the racers also received Nike Gift Certificates.
The contest tested the mental, emotional and physical abilities of contestants as they scurried and tried to outsmart each other to get to the next control points as fast as they could because the last team to arrive at a pre-assigned control point on day two was to be eliminated.
The last three teams had to battle it out to the finish line.
"The event fortifies anew Del Monte 202s position as the juice drink for young people with fit and active lifestyle," De Leon said. Studio 23s Gameplan recorded the event and provided the logistical support throughout the race.
From hundreds of entries the top 25 were chosen. The list further shrunk to eight after the back-to-back 200m swim, 6k run endurance test and intensive panel interview.
The four teams were composed of three racers each, one of whom is a Gameplan host.
