AdU cagebelles decimate UE Lady Warriors

Adamson University made mincemeat of University of the East, 109-39, Sunday to send a strong message it is out to challenge De La Salles hold of the womens basketball crown in the 66th season of the UAAP.
The Lady Falcons, runners-up last season, spent no time blasting away at the hapless UE Amazons as they were never threatened in the match played right on their home turf in San Marcelino, Manila.
De La Salle drew a bye in Sundays opener which saw two matches going down the wireSanto Tomas Us 65-61 conquest of Far Eastern University and Ateneos 68-66 squeaker over University of the Philippines.
Both victories by the Lady Tigers and Lady Eagles were upsets of sorts. FEU and UP were third and fourth last seasons while Ateneo and UST were at fifth and sixth in 2003.
Matches resume Sunday also at the Adamson gym with De La Salle expected to have an easy time against UE, last seasons last placer, at 8 a.m. Other games are those of Ateneo and tournament host Adamson at 9:30 and UP and FEU at 11.
