Samsung Tour kicks off at Forest Hills

-
The possibility of more rains can only make the task to win tougher when the Samsung Amateur Golf Tour and Putting Challenge kicks off tomorrow at the treacherous Forest Hills Golf and Country Club course in Antipolo City.

There will be at least a hundred players led by back-to-back national champ Jerome Delariarte of Southwoods and Southeast Asian Games titlist Juvic Pagunsan of Canlubang vying for honors in three handicap divisions for men and two for women.

With eight elimination legs scheduled in the next eight months, the Samsung series is designed to keep local players competitive all year especially the members of the national pool.

Also featured in the 36-hole tourney are separate battles in Class A (5-9.9 handicap), Class B (10-14.9), Class C (15 and above) for men and ladies Class A (0-9.9) and Class B (10 and above).

The division winner goes home with a television set, the runner-up gets a DVD and the third-placer a microwave open. Entries will also get the chance to win raffle prizes which are part of a package of prizes worth P200,000.

Side by side with the Amateur Tour is the Putting Challenge to be held on the same days at the club‚s practice greens offering attractive prizes as well. To be disputed are the titles in the men‚s, women‚s, seniors and juniors.

Champions of the Forest Hills leg will advance to the national finals scheduled next year at Mt. Malarayat in Batang
