SUBIC Third seed Johnny Arcilla stamped his class over fourth ranked Rolando Ruel Jr., 6-1, 6-2, yesterday to pocket the mens singles title in the second Coca-Cola National Open Tennis Championships at the Subic Bay International Tennis Center Indoor court here.
It was a sweet victory for Arcilla, who re-installed himself as the countrys No. 1 player after clinching his third consecutive Open title this year.
"My goal is to win the title. I didnt perform well last year and I promised myself that I will do my best to win this year," said the 23-year-old Arcilla, who lost, 3-6, 3-6, to former national Pop Sabandon in the third round last year.
"Ive been playing well and I hope to keep my winning form," said Arcilla, who won back-to-back titles in Bohol and Mandaue two weeks ago.
