Negrido leads by 7; Bunyi paces Class B

-
Nonoy Negrido carded a one-under-par 71 yesterday to assume a seven-stroke lead in boys Class A (15-17 years) at the start of the Samsung Jungolf Tour at the rolling Tat Filipinas Golf Club course in San Pedro, Laguna.

The burly Negrido, fresh from a respectable stint in the recent RP Amateurs at Riviera where he made it to the quarterfinals, returned to the summer circuit to open up a hefty lead over last week’s division winner Aaron Dimabuyo (78).

In boys Class B (13-14) years, Gino Bunyi was nursing a one-stroke lead over Miko Yee with his 77 while Martha Buensalida was the runaway leader in the girls side despite a 113.

Over at the par-54 Riviera Executive course, Wolen Juan Superal returned to a short layout but saw his streak of under-par rounds come to end.

Superal’s 56 was his first over-par score in 10 rounds, all of which he scored in the long courses (Orchard, Sherwood Hills and Canlubang) Still, he was able to move up by eight as Christian Ricohermoso could only score a 64 and set himself up for his eighth consecutive victory this summer. Dottie Ardina, unbeaten in five events, scored a 62 for a seven-stroke lead over Angelika Datingaling in the girls side.

The other leaders of the event backed by Philippine Airlines, Airlift Asia, Exito Mfg., Global Lighting and Air Liquide, Phils. as major sponsors were Amado Eustaquio and Crystal Faith Superal in Class C and JR Gonzales and Sun

Mi Hwang in Class E. Pisanti Golf, Bellevue Manila, Third World Eximport, HBW Enterprises, MCCI Corp. and BF Technology are minor sponsors.

Eustaquio’s 76 gave him a six-shot spread with Jordan Mamaril in second while Superal was up by seven over Cyna Marie Rodriguez after a 79.
