Oscar Ordinario will try to defend the title with a new guest partner Peter Pancho in the third Eagle Ridge Invitational golf tournament slated May 23-25 at the Dye and Faldo courses of the Eagle Ridge Golf and Country Club in Gen. Trias, Cavite.
Ordinario, who won last year in tandem with Sta. Maria, and Pancho will be leading a field of about 240 teams seeing action in the 36-hole event which has drawn the support of Callaway, Ford-Edsa and Alsons Insurance as major sponsors.
Among the major prizes in the tourney are a new Ford Lynx and Callaway equipment including the hot-selling X-16 irons which will be raffled off and a Ford Ranger which will be disputed as a hole-in-one prize.
Aside from the overall title, trophies and special items will also be awarded to the top finishes in Class A, B and C.
Class A will be for teams with combined handicap indices of 10-19.9, Class B for 20-39.9, Class C for 40-60 while the ladies division will be an open event. Members will be using their published handicaps as of April 30 and guests will be allowed to use 80 percent of their April 2003 Index with 30 as the maximum.
The other sponsors are GG&A Club Development, Inc., Microtel-Eagle Ridge, Aqua Dyne Drilling, Inc., G-Shop, Inc., Sta. Lucia Golf Cart Corp., JRICO Trade Investment and Mandarin Hotel.
Shotgun start for all combination days (Friday/Dye-Saturday/Faldo, Friday/Faldo-Sunday/Dye and Saturday/Dye-Sunday/Faldo) is 10:30 a.m.
Registration is still ongoing for the 36-hole stroke play, best ball (better score counts) Stableford with handicaps applied on a first-come-first-served basis. Entry fee is P6,000 per team inclusive of two raffle tickets, giveaways, tee-house snacks, breakfasts, golf cart and awarding dinner.
