Expect the unexpected when some 125 teams try to outgun each other for top honors in the two-day Belle Cup golf championship, the biggest, richest and most prestigious golfing event hosted by Tagaytay Highlands and Midlands, which fires off today.
Now on its fourth year, the event is a combination of three tournaments the Highlands Cup, the Midlands Cup and the Belle Cup, which is the culmination of the first two events. The unique three-in-one, two-man team tournament features members of the Tagaytay Highlands International Golf Club, Inc. and Tagaytay Midlands Golf Club and their spouses, dependents or guests.
Some of the countrys top business executives and corporate leaders head the star-studded field. Also invited to the event are Presidential Adviser Eduardo Ermita, Philippine Sports Commission chair Eric Buhain and PSC commissioner Ambrosio de Luna.
At stake are the team championships in the Highlands, Midlands and Belle Cups, plus the overall individual championships, Groups I, II, III and ladies division titles.
Also up for grabs are two Northwest Airlines world business class tickets to any US destination with the first to be given to the first player to make a hole-in-one on any par-3 hole and the second to be raffled off among Belle Cup participants during the awards rites. Should there be no player to score an ace on both days, the second ticket will also be raffled off in the event backed by Globe Telecom, Prudential Guarantee, SM Prime Holdings, Werdenberg Corp. as major hole sponsors.
