Sportszone jinns shine in QC Olympics

Sportszone hauled four gold medals in the first half of the two-day taekwondo competitions to get a good headstart in the second Batang QC Olympics at the Amoranto Multi-Purpose Hall in Quezon City.

Marco Gucilatar (gradeschool group 5 boys’ novice), Aaron Raterta (gradeschool group 4 ), Asher Lev Espana (gradeschool group 6) and Mariel Gadit (gradeschool group 7) provided Sportzone its four golds to lead closest pursuer Filinvest.

Filinvest was breathing down Sportszone’s neck with a three-gold medal harvest courtesy of Ronnie Caindoy (gradeschool 7-9 years old), Melbourne Cabalungan (gradeschool 7-8 years old) and Francis Evangelista (gradeschool group 2 ).

Also making big strides with a two-gold medal haul apiece were Claret School, University of the Philippines Integrated School (UPIS), Odelco Tkd-Batasan Hills and San Vicente.

Claret’s winnings were provided by Tonyboy Enrile-Inton (gradeschool 7-9 years old) and Jake Crucillo (gradeschool group 5 ) while UPIS got its golden output from Junji Lidasan (gradeschool group 2 , 8-11 years old) and Christine Baldonado (gradeschool group 6).

Odelco, on the other hand, banked on golden efforts by Michael Zoleryn (gradeschool group) and Ralph Hernandez (gradeschool group 3, 9 years old) while Jemmery de Leon (gradeschool group 4 ,11-13 years old) and Camille Acudili (gradeschool group 2) delivered the gold medals for San Vicente.

Also coming off with a golden performance were Francisco Pabilico of Angelicum, William Felicia of Baesa, Van Arden Mercado of Fairview, Lohen Ambrosio of Charles Fitness-Kamuning, Carlo Garcia of Amoranto, Mark Dizon of White Plains, Divine Coralyn Casido of Project 6, Kristel Cornejo of Flos Carmeli Institute, Karen Santos of St. James-Balintawak and Renalyn Ramos of Bahay Toro.

This annual, month-long event is being organized by Quezon City Mayor Feliciano "Sonny" Belmonte and Vice Mayor Herbert Bautista.
