Region IV dominates CHED-PRISAA games

Region IV emerged the winningest region in the just-concluded Adidas and Globe Telecom sponsored CHED-PRISAA National Games 2003 held at the Angeles University in Angeles City.

The three-day competition was participated in by some 1,000 athletes from the country’s 16 regions.

Region IV, represented by Dela Salle University in Dasmariñas, Cavite, grabbed the gold medals in both women’s and men’s volleyball. In the tightly-contested final match, Dela Salle’s women’s team defeated the Cebu Selection representing Region VII in volleyball.

The highly-touted Region IV men’s volleyball team hardly flexed their muscles in disposing the Davao Selection representing Region XI for their second gold medal.

In men’s basketball, University of the East, representing the National Capital Region spoiled Region IV’s bid for the third gold with a lopsided victory.

In baseball, Davao (Region IX) leaned on their superb pitching ability to demolish Bicol (Region V).

The Davao nine scored a 14-1 win in just seven innings.

Meanwhile, Mia Padiernos of Region 3 took the Mutya ng PRISAA 2003 crown by besting Maridel Alagao of Region XI and Sarah Ribo Tan of ARMM.

For the 12th year since 1991, Dr. Emmanuel Angeles was re-elected chairman of the Board of Trustees of PRISAA.
