Dottie Ardina and Holen Juan Superal pulled off lopsided victories while Amado Eustaquio needed a big final round charge to prevail in the lower divisions of the Philippine Airlines Junior Interclub golf championships at the Camp Aguinaldo Golf Club course.
Superal pounced on a big collapse by Jobim Carlos to rule the boys Class D pulling away while Eustaquio won by a mere stroke over Jik Jik Abdon in boys Class C in exciting action kicking off the Jungolf summer circuit.
Junior World champ Ardina shrugged off a sluggish start to rout the field in girls Class D. Bacolod-based Mia Piccio and Andie Unson followed suit by winning Class C and Class E, respectively.
JR Gonzales crowned himself the Class E champ with a 10-stroke win over first round leader JP de Claro.
In the team competition, Carlos led Aguinaldo "A" teammates JP de Claro, JR Gonzales and Stephen Bolivar to an overwhelming victory. They finished 50 strokes ahead of Villamor with Kagitingan claiming third place.
Meanwhile, Southwoods and Eastridge braced for a final-round showdown as they held the top two positions after the first two rounds at the Manila Golf Club.
Miko Alejandro came to the rescue with a 74 as he led Southwoods to a three-stroke lead with a 464 aggregate for 36 holes. Tonton Asistio chipped in a 77 and Justin Tambunting added an 80.
Kevin Lachica and Mikee Camitoc both fired 73s for Eastridge but their third man Gio dela Paz could only score a 73 and ended the day still three behind Southwoods at 467. Aguinaldo, behind Gino Bunyes 72, remained in the running at 468.
Defending champion Kagitingan was at 473, Riviera 475, Sta. Elena 476, Villamor 503, Cebu 511 and Alabang 515.
After the PAL Interclub, the circuit motors to the Camp John Hay course for the second leg next week.
