Fast greens with a rating of at least 12 in the stimpmeter are bound to make the competitions in all divisions very exciting as the seventh Sta. Elena Cup, the member-guest invitational of the multi-awarded club in Cabuyao, Laguna, gets going today.
Two hundred twenty four members of Sta. Elena are bringing guest partners into a 36-hole battle of both the good and not-so-good swingers under the best tournament conditions possible with the weather good and the course in perfect shape after intensive preparations.
Fred de Vera and his guest partner Jimmy Bautista are returning to defend the overall trophy, leading the huge cast vying for honors in the tourney which has drawn the support of Mizuno, Royal Carribean International, Northwest Airlines, Omega Watches and ICTSI. Kart Plaza Manufacturing is providing the hole-in-one prize, a Yamaha cart.
Mizuno through Master Sports, Inc. is giving away equipment worth P750,000, Northwest Airlines and Royal Carribean have donated plane tickets all the way to Miami, Florida plus a seven-night Carribean Cruise for two and Omega will be raffling off its famous watches. Entries will certainly look forward to winning a separate cash raffle one for a whopping P500,000 and another for P300,000.
The tandem of Richie Garcia-Montito Garcia will be chasing for another major plum since bagging the low gross title of the Manila Golf Golden Tee.
