Filipino Don Pastor of Team T.E Pilipinas is all set to compete in the opening round of the inaugural Formula BMW Asia 2003 Series, which is scheduled as a supporting event for this weekends 2003 Malaysian Formula One Grand Prix at the Sepang F1 Circuit.
Pastors participation in the event marks another milestone for Philippine motor sports, as it will be the first time in history that a Filipino will be participating in a Formula One curtain-raiser.
The 17-year old Pastor earned a scholarship from BMW and the privilege of participating in the series after he finished second out of 22 drivers in a grueling tryout, which was held in Valencia, Spain.
Don is the son of former touring car driver and Asian Formula 3 promoter Tom Pastor and is also the younger brother of 2002 Asian Formula Renault champion Enzo Pastor.
"Im really excited to be a part of the Formula One weekend in Malaysia and the thought of sharing the track with the likes of Michael Schumacher and Juan Pablo Montoya is really mind-blowing," the young Pastor said.
