Asian F3 racing expands in 2003

The Asian Formula 3 series, a big hit in its first appearance on Asian tracks last year, is back with a bigger format, more events and more venues tapped in its year-long program.

The Asian 2003 Formula 3 series will feature seven events with a total of 14 rounds of racing. Aside from the Philippines and Malaysia, four countries -- Korea, Japan, Thailand and China -- will also be staging the event which will draw the top F3 riders, led by the Philippines’ Enzo Pastor, the Renault F3 champion last year, in the hunt for the AF3 title, the premier Formula car class in Asia.

The 2003 series is organized by the Asian Formula 3 Corporation with Colby Ventures Inc. as Philippine events promoter.

The AF3 series has delivered close wheel racing action in 2002. With veteran and young upcoming drivers from all over Asia, Pastor and other top contenders from Malaysia and Japan are expected to have their hands full in what could be an even tougher competition for the AF3 title with more riders participating this year.

Corporate sponsors are Shell, Denso, Castrol, Petron and Yokohama.

Dolby Ventures said the AF3 series will be featured in six events of the Asian Festival of Speed (AFOS). There will be a stand-alone event held at the Subic International Raceway , making a total of 14 races in seven event dates.

E-Colby Ventures Inc. handles marketing and promotions for Philippine events while T.I.M.E.S. International Marketing handles international events.
