Takbo Para Sa Kalikasan up at Quirino Grandstand

-
Registration for the DZMM Takbo Para Sa Kalikasan slated for March 9 at the Quirino Grandstand is now underway at the ground floor of the Vasquez Madrigal Plaza Bldg. at No. 51 Annapolis St. in Greenhills, San Juan and at the DZMM public assistance office at the ABS-CBN Foundation Bldg. in Quezon City. Registration will run up to Feb. 28 only.

Now on its fourth year, the DZMM Takbo Para Sa Kalikasan, which is supported by Sagip Foundation, Civicom, MMI and organized by RACE, aims to raise funds for the rehabilitation of the Philippine mangroves.

In its first staging, funds raised by DZMM Takbo Para Sa Kalikasan supported the rehabilitation of the La Mesa Dam watershed in cooperation with Bantay Kalikasan ABS-CBN Foundation. The following year, it supported the rehabilitation of mangroves in Parañaque, and was followed last year in Obando, Bulacan.

This year’s staging will have three distances open for competition. The 10K and 5K runs are open to all runners 13 years old and above while the 3K run is for kids 6 to 12 years old. Registration fees of P150 for the 10K and 5K runs and P50 for the 3K run entitle participants to a starter’s t-shirt which must be worn at all times during the run.

According to project chairman Angelo Palmones, in addition to the starter’s t-shirt, a total of P74,000 awaits top finishers of the 10K, 5K and 3K races. The overall champion and top female finisher of the 10K ron will receive P10,000 each plus a gold medal while the second and third placers will receive P7,000 and P5,000, respectively.

The overall champion and top female finisher of the 5K run will receive P5,000 each plus a gold medal, while the second and third placer will receive P3,000 and P2,000, respectively.

In the kids run, top finishers male and female in the 6 to 9 years old and in the 10 to 12 years old categories will receive P1,500 each while the second and third placers will receive P1,000 and P500, respectively.

All finishers will receive certificates of completion while the group with the most number of entries will receive a specially designed plaque.
