The distinct honor of being crowned the countrys putting champion and a bounty of Samsungs top-of-the-line products await the winner of tomorrows Samsung Putting Challenge at the Wack Wack Golf and Country Club.
Seventy qualifiers from the seven elimination legs held in various courses in Luzon and the Visayas will dispute the title via a two-stage finale in a makeshift course at the practice green of the club.
Two world jungolf champions, a former national ladies champion, a club manager, several expats and a horde of weekend duffers out to make the most of the opportunity for instant fame are in the competing roster.
Among those in the hunt for a Samsung entertainment showcase made up of a digital television and home theater DVD plus a True I cellular phone worth no less than P75,000 are jungolf aces Dottie Ardina and Jayvie Agojo and Wack Wack general manager SP Malbarosa.
Joining the Samsung-backed series as co-sponsors are Taylor Made adidas, Hotshots Flame-Grilled Burgers, Gatorade, Fila, Custom Clubmakers and Greg Norman Shirts by Planet Sports.
Its going to be a winner-take-all showdown for the grand prize although the best scores from the four divisions (mens, seniors, jungolf and ladies) will each get a television set.
Participants will be allowed to test the surface in the practice session starting at 8 a.m. The top 15 and ties will advance to the afternoon finals.
A lucky entry in the hole-in-one side-event may go home with a brand new car. There are about 50 players, who all made aces during the elimination rounds, expected to join the hole-in-one contest.
The hole-in-one award will be disputed in the other practice green of the club.
The much-awaited putting finals will coincide with the final day of the 14th Bill Shaw Memorial, Wack Wacks member-guest invitational which is presented by Samsung.
