Camry, Lancers at stake in Shaw golf

A Toyota Camry, two Mitsubishi Lancer GLS 1600s, a Kymco DJ50 motorbike and a Yamaha cart make up the grand package of hole-in-one prizes worth at least P2 million for the 14th annual Bill Shaw Memorial Golf Classic, the member-guest invitational of the Wack Wack Golf and Country Club presented by Samsung, this Friday and Saturday.

The Toyota Otis-sponsored Camry will be up for grabs on the 16th hole of the east course, the Lancers, will be on No. 8 of the east and No. 11 of the west, the Kymco bike on west No. 8 and the Yamaha golf cart of Kart Plaza Manufacturing will be at stake on west No. 3.

A maximum field of 200 teams will be disputing the overall title currently held by the father-and-son pair of Angel and Robert Concepcion in the 36-hole event backed by Golforce, Custom Clubmakers and Unilever Philippines as major sponsors.

Tonichi Tuason, chair of the sports and games committee handling the Bill Shaw preparations, said that there will be a bounty of prizes to be won both in the tournament and the raffle during the awardings on Saturday at the poolside.

Tuason said that also contributing largely to their successful effort to come up with the best package of prizes possible are Caltex Havoline, Splash, Pacific Paint & Oil Mfg., Citra Metro Tollways, Synergymed, PLDT, PCSO, Beauty GG&A Club Shares, Atty. Gilberto Duavit, Immuvit Multi-Vitamins, Standard Chartered Bank, Del Monte, GNC, Gatorade, Pacsports, Forest Hills, Air Philippines, Discovery Suites, The South Spa, Nestle Phils. and The Plaza.

Two different formats ensure an exciting battle for the overall title and division honors as well as the Ladies Bill Shaw competition. Those assigned to tee off in the east course will play the scramble format while teams in the west side will be playing the aggregate mode.
