Ranidel de Ocampo again delivered for St. Francis as the defending champion whipped Colegio de San Lorenzo, 88-79, in the battle of unbeaten teams in the quarterfinals of the 10th National Capital Region Athletic Association (NCRAA) mens basketball tournament.
De Ocampo had a game-high 33 points, firing 13 of them in a big second quarter run where he teamed up with Freddie Montelibano and Nizar Kiram.
By the time the Doves were through with the scoring binge, the reigning champions were already ahead by a mile, 49-38, after being held to a 26-26 standoff by the Griffins in the first 10 minutes of the game.
It was the third straight win for the Doves, including eight in a row during the elims, despite playing for the third time without ailing coach Gabby Velasco, out indefinitely with a back injury.
