NAMSSA honors 2002 top riders

The National Motorcycle Sports and Safety Association (NAMSSA), the country’s highest governing body in local motorcycle sports, will host and honor the most outstanding performers during the year 2002 annual awards night Wednesday.

NAMSSA president Ken Falco will personally present the trophies to the four winners of the different motorcycle events duly sanctioned by the NAMSSA, the legitimate motorcycle sports body affiliated with the FIM (Federation Internationale de Motocyclisme), Philippine Olympic Committee (POC), Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) and recognized by the Philippine House of Representatives.

Joining Falco are Asian Motorcycle Union vice president, Asian Motocross and Enduro Commission president, NAMSSA secretary-general Macky Carapiet and NAMSSA vice-president Arthur Valdez.

To be honored are:

Jolet Jao, "Superbike Rider of the Year" who topped the 2002 Shell Super Bike Championships held at the BRC.

Jao won 11 of 12 races held this year and posted one of the biggest winning margins in history.

The multi-awarded campaigner from Marikina City also put up a creditable performance in his debut race in the FIM Asia Road Racing Championships held in Sepang F1 Circuit in Sepang, Malaysia. Jao also won the Maxi Scooter Series.

Bembie Atienza, "Motocross Rookie of the Year" who dominated the MP Turbo National Supercross Series.

The pride of Tiaong, Quezon emerged in the annual series organized by well-known motorsports personality Mike Potenciano.

Ivan Santiago, "Scooter Rider of the Year" who ruled the Shell Super Scooter Championships held at the CCP in Carmona, Cavite.<
