A jampacked crowd is again expected at Mandaluyong Coliseum when the UCAP international ninecock derby championship round gets underway at 6 p.m. today bannering 70 fights. Sponsors are Sagupaan Hammer, Sagupaan Complexor 3000, Sagupaan Mite Free Shampoo, PagcorCasino Filipino, Heritage Hotel and Washout Shampoo.
After two days of action, two bets remained unscathed so far as they posted five victories each. They are Makati sportsman Emil Chua (Concrete Breaker) and Batangas breeder Jun Marasigan (JM Sa Pasay Jan. 31).
Chua, solo champion of the prestigious Balbina sevenstag derby (136 entries) in 1999, 2002 Showdown seven-stag and Las Piñas five-stag derby, is again fielding the hard-hitting Sweater Lemons from the RPR Farm Negros while Marasigan is all set to let loose imported fighters from Saipan.
But a group of four pointers are battle-ready to swarm the leaders. They are former World Slasher champion Raffy Yulo and Charlie Esteban (Charlie), Jimmy Cody of Alabama and former UCAP head Butch Macasaet (RQP-RFP Greenwood Balbina Cody), sabong idol Patrick Antonio (Sagupaaan Hammer), Arthur Uy of Davao (Davao Matina March 3 5M), UCAP cocker of the year Jet Fernando (JSFGP 1), John Capinpin (JCAP MAD AT RBA), Wacky Salud (Mactan Casino Apr. 11) and Romero Yu (JPC MW Ray Showdown.)
At stake in the derby being hosted by OPMI president Vic Yu is a guaranteed prize of P2 million. For other inquiries, contact 531-4003,531-4005, 535-2341 and 534-4110.
