American bets to spice up UCAP international derby

-
Powerhouse entries will be fielded by the visiting American breeders, who vow to conquer the "UCAP International 9-Cock Derby" tomorrow at Mandaluyong Coliseum. Sponsors are Sagupaan Super Feeds, Pagcor, Heritage Hotel and Washout Shampoo.

The three-day event is being hosted by OPMI president Vic Yu with the full support of the United Cockers Association of the Philippines (UCAP).

Topnotch breeder Kelly Green of Alabama, the reigning 2002 Texoma 11-Cock Derby champion, heads an elite cast of American pit stars like Chuck Berry of Oklahoma, champion of the 2000 UCAP International Derby and Bobby Jones of Texas.

Also in town are Jimmy Cody of Alabama, guest of former UCAP president Butch Macasaet and Howard Belk of California, in partnership with Alex Tang of Bicol.

Included in the powerhouse list are Fil-Ams George Goitia, Rene Rene Medina and Boy de Guzman of California. Submission of weights is set today, from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m. Interested parties may contact 531-4003, 531-4005, 535-2341 and 534-4110. At stake is a guaranteed prize of P2 million while entry fee is P35,000.
