Asiad medalists get bonus today

Forty athletes and 20 coaches take centerstage today to reap the monetary rewards of their medal-winning effort in the 14th Asian Games in Busan, South Korea last October.
Led by individual gold medal winner Mikee Cojuangco Jaworski in equestrians showjumping event, the medalists, who brought home three golds, seven silvers and 16 bronzes from the Asiad, along with their coaches, will receive P11.5 million as provided for by RA 9064, or the Athletes and Coaches Incentives Act.
Philippine Sports Commission chairman Eric Buhain and Philippine Amusements and Gaming Corp. chairman Ephraim Genuino will hand over the checks to the athletes and coaches in elaborate ceremonies set at 3 p.m at the Villamor Golf Club Social Hall.
