Top seeds advance in Manzano Cup

Top seeds Christian Canlas and Raymond Villarete played true to form yesterday to earn quarterfinal berths in the boys’ 14-under division of the fifth Armando Manzano Memorial Cup tennis tournament at the Rizal Memorial Tennis Center.

Canlas breezed past Jeffrey Onate, 6-0, 6-2, to advance against Johnwill Baldonado, who scored a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Elijah Collado.

Villarete outclassed Gerard Michael Ngo, 6-0, 6-1, to forge a quarterfinal showdown with seventh seed Jose Lorenzo Opulencia, a 6-2, 6-3 winner over Nico Katigbak.
