Preparations are in full swing for the 17th edition of the Rotary Golfing Fellowship Foundation of the Philippines (RGFFP) golf tournament slated Jan. 15-18 at the Camp John Hay and Baguio Country Club courses in Baguio City.
Poch Borromeo, president and CEO of the RGFFP, said no less than 200 Rotarians and guests from local branches as well as foreign visitors are going up to Baguio not just for the exciting competition but also to enjoy the cool climate.
Borromeo said that the 54-hole Baguio tourney, one of the four major events in the annual RGFFP calendar of activities, is by tradition the biggest because of the allure of the weather at mountain top.
"Its where we really get all available slots filled up because everybody just loves the location," said Borromeo.
Registration is now going on at the RGFFP Secretariat, GNC in Laurel St., Mandaluyong with tel. Nos. 721-8896 and 721-0564 . Entry fee is P4,500 if paid on or before Jan. 8, 2003 and P5,500 for late registrants.
Entries in the 36-hole seniors division at Camp John Hay will pay only P4,000.
Tournament director Pancho Perea said that each team is allowed to field five players with the best four counting each day. To be disputed are the Founders, Presidents, Governors and Fellowship divisions. Guests are eligible to compete only as an individual.
There will be free practice rounds on Jan. 14-15 at both courses with a meeting among team captains set on Jan. 15. Right after the first round on Jan. 16 will be the welcome cocktails while the awards dinner will be at 7 p.m. on Jan. 18.
