San Lo, NCBA move to q’finals

Colegio de San Lorenzo and National College of Business and Arts blasted separate opponents yesterday to earn quarterfinal berths in the 10th National Capital Region Athletic Association (NCRAA) men’s basketball tournament.

Xyrus Dimao poured in 27 points for the CDSL Griffins, who turned back La Salle-Dasmariñas, 73-67, while NCBA Wildcats stopped St. Benedict’s College, 77-71, in a pair of seniors game at the Blue Eagle gym.

The victories were the fourth in five games for both the Griffins and Wildcats to share the lead in Group B of this 18-team tournament.

Unbeaten Lyceum Pirates (3-0) remain in contention for the two remaining seats in the same group along with La Salle Dasmariñas and St. Benedict’s College (2-2).

The Pirates could advance in the next round with a win over the Wildcats on Thursday when action shifts to the Pearl Plaza gym in Tambo, Paranaque.

In today’s senior action, the St. Francis Doves try to keep their unbeaten record against the Philippine School of Business Administration Jaguars at 12 noon at the Blue Eagle gym while the Griffins clash with PATTS Seahorses at 10:30 a.m.

In women’s action, AMA Computer College prevailed over New Era University, 53-52, while Rizal Tech whipped Emilio College, 55-36.

In the juniors division, Ryan Arana fired 24 points for the leading CDSL Baby Griffins, who dumped New Era University, 96-53, to streak to their fourth straight win.
