Star-studded PSC concert open free to public

-
It will be one big Christmas party and more significantly, the event will be open free to the public.

"Everybody is invited to this celebration because we feel our athletes deserve to be honored for their effort particularly in the Busan Asian Games," said Eric Buhain chairman of the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC), which is co-presenting the Alay Sa Gintong Medalya: The Thanksgiving Concert with Samsung Electronics Phils. Corp. on Dec. 18 at the PhilSports Arena (formerly Ultra) in Pasig City.

A bevy of stars, led by the concert queen Pops Fernandez, are performing on concert night, which would fete the country’s medal winners and athletes who saw action in the Busan 14th Asian Games last October.

Busan Asiad gold medalists Mikee Cojuangco-Jaworski in equestrian, Django Bustamante and Antonio Lining in billiards and Paeng Nepomuceno and RJ Bautista in bowling and the seven silver medal winners and 16 bronze medallists lead the cast of athletes who will be feted for their efforts in the games’ edition that was the country’s best in 16 years.

Besides the Busan veterans, the rest of the athletes in the national pool will be on hand to celebrate Christmas along side PSC brass that include commissioners Leon Montemayor, William Ramirez, Mike Barredo and Cynthia Carrion. Other PSC officials and staff, including those from the POC, various national sports associations (NSAs) and Samsung Electronics Phils. Corp. officials are also expected to be present on concert night.
