Welcoat, Blu All Purpose part ways in Balanga

It’s going be a head-on collision betweenWelcoat Paints and Blu All Purpose while Dazz Dishwashing Liquid hopes to complete the upper bracket today as the 2002 PBL Challenge Cup invades the Bataan People’s Center in Balanga, Bataan.

The encounter between the Paint Masters and the Detergent Kings, both 6-1, will be one awesome showcase of defense strategy, board banging and amazing stunts as the two teams dispute solo leadership at 4 p.m.

The Greasebusters needed the win over Sunkist-Pampanga in the 2 p.m. match to join Welcoat, Blu and LBC-Batangas in the upper bracket even if they end up in a four-way tie with Montana Pawnshop, John-O and ICTSI-La Salle.

Under such case, quotient system will be used to break ties. Dazz will claim the fourth slot of the upper bracket by virtue of its highest quotient (1.032), while the other three — ICTSI (1.008), John-O (1.000) and Montana (0.963) — will be relegated to the lower bracket.

The first PBL out-of-town game in Bataan was made possible in coordination with Toby Tanjuatco through the valuable support of Bataan Governor Leonardo "Ding" Roman, Vice-Governor Rogelio "Boy" Roque and the Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Bataan.

Proceeds of the event, sponsored by Apo Quartz Vinyl Tiles, United Auctioneers Inc., Western Union, HERMA Shipyards, Seven Twenty Four Convenience Store at the Bataan Terminal Mall, VETAFS Store, and partners Power Radio 104.7 FM and Smile Radio 98.3 FM, will be for the benefit of the Senior Citizens of Bataan.

Tickets are available at Jollibee Balanga and Orani, Seven Twenty Four Convenience Store at the Bataan Terminal Mall and VETAFS Store.

Welcoat coach Leo Austria said he’s not taking chances against Blu even if the Paint Masters are highly favored with its powerhouse cast led by Romel Adducul, Eddie Laure, Jean Marc Pingris, Paul Artadi, Ariel Capus and the Showman, Ronald Tubid.

"Expect intense action, dahil tiyak na walang bibigay to the very last minute," said Austria.
