Six teams compete in NBL tourney

-
The National Basketball League (NBL) holds a weeklong tournament Dec. 2-7 at the Tinga gym in Taguig, Rizal before it goes regional next year.

Six teams will see action in the cagefest, according to national pistol shooting champion and NBL vice president for operations Nathaniel "Tac" Padilla.

Five of these are Cebu City’s M. Lhuillier, coached by Yayoy Alcoseba, and Mandaue City’s Kwarta Padala, mentored by Eddie Ybanez, and both owned by Cebu sportsman Michel Lhuillier; Forward Taguig, coached by Danny Gavierez and owned by Mayor Freddie Tinga; Mandaluyong’s Wang’s Ball Club, coached by Jerome Cueto and owned by Alex Wang; and reigning national champion Spring Cooking Oil of Malabon, coached by Tito Palma and owned by Tac Padilla.

The sixth team will either be Hartmann Seigle managed by Mike Ganglani, Davao’s Marsman Drysdale managed by Mario Bongayal or Jimmy Mariano’s Uratex team.

Anthony Sulit will be the tournament director of the NBL’s preview event.

Sanctioned by the Basketball Association of the Philippines, the NBL will hold two legs of the First Conference–the first in Cebu City starting on Feb. 2 and the second in Metro Manila starting on March 2 next year.

M. Lhuillier, Kwarta Padala, Forward Taguig, Wang’s BC and Spring Cooking Oil will play in the first leg. The sixth team will be selected from among Marsman Drysdale, Hartmann Seigle, Cotabato City, Ozamis City and Osaka Iridology of the Guardo Group of Companies.
