Samsung backs Alay sa Gintong Medalya

-
Samsung Electronics Phils. Corp. continues to throw its support to Philippine sports and is principally backing up the Alay Sa Gintong Medalya: The Thanksgiving Concert set Dec. 18 at the PhilSports Arena (formerly Ultra) in Pasig City.

Samsung Electronics Phils. Corp. president and CEO Sang Yeoul Eom, through Samsung senior marketing manager Jerry Lacson and advertising and promo manager Angie Limbaco, has fortified that support with the Philippine Sports Commission (PSC), the electronics giants’ co-presentor for the concert.

The country’s medal winners in the Busan 14th Asian Games, led by gold medal winners Mikee Cojuangco-Jaworski in equestrian, Paeng Nepomuceno and RJ Bautista in bowling and Django Bustamante and Antonio Lining in billiards will be feted in the concert, which is a followup to the sendoff cum fund-raiser last Aug. 9 also at the PhilSports.

Also to be feted are the seven silver medal winners and 16 bronze medalists as well as the rest of the 327-athlete RP delegation to the Busan Asiad last October.

"We appreciate the support being given to Philippine sports by Samsung Electronics Phils. Corp.," said Buhain, adding the PSC board, also composed of commissioners William Ramirez, Leon Montemayor, Mike Barredo and Cynthia Carrion, are echoing the gratitude to Samsung.

"Mr. Pure Energy" Gary Valenciano is expected to lead the country’s top performers and give their support for national athletes on concert night.

Top officials of the sports community, specifically the leaders of the Philippine Olympic Committee led by president Celso Dayrit and heads of the national sports associations, are expected to again grace the concert to fete even those in the national training pool who were unable to see action in Busan.

"This is for the Filipino athletes, for the sports officials, for everyone who did his share in Busan and for the entire country," said Buhain, stressing the very principle of competing "for flag and country" reared to maximum levels during the entire 16 days of the Busan Asiad.

"We hope that such endeavor would continue to generate awareness and support to our athletes and to Philippine sports," said Buhain.
