Wind Blown gave his fans a good reason to cheer yesterday by posting a big victory in the San Miguel Beer-Marho Breeders Cup Classic race at the Sta. Ana Park.
Finishing second in the tough 2,050-meter race was Hyperbrid, followed by Lyonnais and Staunch Ally. Ace jockey Fernando Racquel steered Wind Blown to victory worth P600,000 for owner Hermie Esguerra.
Earlier, third favorite High Octane performed way beyond expectations as he ruled the Juvenile Colts race with a time of 1:34.4 over 1,500 meters. Diktador, the second favorite, came in second followed by Success Story and Security Master, the top pick.
In the equally-exciting Fillies (three-year-olds) race, Triple Crown leg winner Golden Ballet displayed the same fire to beat What A Spell, Velocity and Dandansoy in a longer 1,600-m journey.
All three races carried a winners purse of P600,000 with the runners-up taking P225,000, third placers P125,000 and fourth placers P50,000. Ramon Romualdez
