Over 90 of the finest amateur golfers in the country led by reigning Southeast Asian Games champion Juvic Pagunsan make up a well-balanced field competing in the unique, two-day event at the scenic layout in Batangas.
"Weve tried our best to balance the teams to make the competition exciting," said Raul de Mesa, president of the Bank of Commerce. "And this is one rare event where camaraderie and friendship prevail over winning."
Some of the countrys top golf clubs will be represented in the event, with Pagunsan, coming off a stint in the last World Amateurs in Kuala Lumpur, leading the big group from Canlubang in tandem with Bambi Revilla.
Veteran Tommy Manotoc, who is also Calatagan general manager, partners Canlubangs Luigi Yulo; Abe Rosal teams up with Tony Olives; Jinky Tuason combines with Manoling Chan while Kit Lopez partners Bert Raga.
Former national caddies champion and national player Jay Bayron forms an explosive tandem with Jojo Guingona.
Eight players will be representing Del Monte led by Ben Miñoza while Malarayat will be fielding Mike Carr and Jack Imperial, among others. The Riviera Golf Club entries will be led by the team of Bobby Celestino and Eric Gozo.
"Im sure this will be an exciting two days, both the club and the players," said Manotoc.
