President invited to Asia Pacific dancesport

The 20-nation Asia Pacific Dancesport Championships, the biggest in many years, gets going at 1 p.m. this Saturday at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City.

President Arroyo will be guest of honor in the dance spectacle hosted by the International Dancesport Federation (IDSF) and the Dancesport Council of the Philippines headed by Becky Garcia. Entered in the tournament, aside from the Philippines, are dance athletes from Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, China, Taipeh, Korea, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, India, Lebanon, Macau, Sri Lanka, Singapore, Japan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Krygystan, Canada and the United States. They will be competing in three events, namely IDSF amateur youth and junior in both Standard and Latin categories.

Garcia, who is co-chair of the Asia Pacific dancefest with Philippine Sports Commission chair Eric Buhain, said the tournament sponsors are Philippine Olympic Committee, PCSO, Pagcor, PSC, Philippine Air Lines, Edsa Shangri-La, Dance Exchange, Pagoda Philippines, Carlines Transportation and ABC 5.
