Blu to beef up frontline with Ferriols, Patrimonio

-
Blu All-Purpose is eyeing the services of former MBA cagers John Ferriols and Allen Patrimonio to beef up its lineup in the current Philippine Basketball League tourney.

The Blu All-Purpose coaching staff and management decided to strengthen its frontline rotation after witnessing an 87-66 Welcoat demolition of John-O Monday night.

The consensus among team owner Dioceldo Sy, team manager Silliman Sy and coach Leo Isaac after watching the Welcoat-John O game was that they need two more big men, and they wasted no time in initiating talks with the two ex-pros.

Ferriols came along with manager Dondon Monteverde for the initial negotiations at the PBL Office yesterday. However, the two refused to disclose the details.

With Ferriols and Patrimonio joining forces with old mainstays Marlon Legaspi and Allan Gamboa, the DSS Productmakers Inc. franchise is likely to become a formidable team with a good shot at winning its first regular PBL crown.

"We were really impressed after seeing how Welcoat turned back the solid lineup of John-O," said Isaac.

"That victory made Welcoat the yardstick for this conference. Other teams are now mapping out plans to get at least close to matching the Paint Masters’ frontline. I believe the two (Ferriols and Patrimonio) would be big help in pushing the management’s serious bid for the crown," said Sy.

Blu debuts versus LBC-Batangas Saturday. The Blades started their campaign with an 84-77 win over the Montana Jewels in the tournament opener.

"Should the two sign up with us, we need time to jell in preparation for Welcoat by the end of the month. We’re looking forward to be in the finals again," Isaac added.
