MCA amateur chess league Dec. 7-8

Chess associations and clubs all over the country take center stage as the first Metropolitan Chess Association (MCA) Amateur League unfolds Dec. 7-8 at the Palmera Function Room of Lotus Garden Hotel in Padre Faura cor Mabini St. in Manila.
Open to private and government firms, municipalities, cities, schools and universities nationwide, the two-day team event uses a nine-round Swiss System with time control of 45 minutes per player.
At stake is a total pot of P160,000 with the champion getting the lions share of P50,000 plus an elegant trophy in this meet organized by the Metropolitan Chess Club and sanctioned by the National Chess Federation of the Phils.
The second placer receives P30,000, third P20,000, fourth P15,000, fifth P10,000, sixth P7,000 and seventh to 10th places, P5,000 each. Individual top board performers will also receive cash prizes.
