Benitez rallies to capture Masters title

RP national team player Irene Benitez of SLETBA-Youngs Town unveiled an amazing comeback in the second block of the championship to capture the Open Masters crown of the sixth Chinatrust-SLETBA Open Bowling Championship at the Sta. Lucia East Grand Mall Bowling Center in Cainta.
Actually, Benitez ended 16th with only 1718 after the first block but came storming in the finals with 1967 averaging 222 per game to claim the title with a total of 3685 in this event sponsored by Chinatrust Banking Corporation, Sta. Lucia East Grandmall, Freyssinet, New Solanie Hotel, Fuji Films and Fortune Tobacco.
Markwin Tee of PBAP-Bowlmart rolled a consistent 1838 in yesterdays finals for the runner-up finish with a 3671 total while another national Sixto Sengson, also of PBAP-Bowlmart, ended third with 3655.
First block leader, national kegler RJ Bautista of TBAM, had a dismall day rolling 175 and 172 on the 10th and 13th game and wound up only eighth overall with 3566.
