Abrantes, De Dios show way in singles

Cheche Abrantes of TBAM-Prima and Papio de Dios of SLETBA showed the way against equally talented rivals yesterday in the kickoff of the sixth Chinatrust-SLETBA Open Championship at the Sta. Lucia East Grand Mall Bowling Center in Cainta.

Abrantes topped the mixed masters category as she rolled a total of 910 pinfalls in the singles event and summed up 2135 in the all events of this tournament sponsored by Chinatrust Banking Corporation, Sta. Lucia East Grandmall, Freyssinet, New Solanie Hotel, Fuji Films, and Fortune Tobacco.

De Dios, on the other hand, accumulated an all-events total of 2135 to lead the graded division.

A simple but solemn ceremony commenced the Chinatrust-SLETBA Bowling Open Championship with PBC vice-president Ador Bonquin and former PBA Rookie of the Year and now Chinatrust VP Joe Sison as special guests of honors and RP bowlers Irene Garcia-Benitez and gold medalist RJ Bautista leading the oath of sportsmanship.

In the team event, the trio of Jack Interia, Al Dy, and Jayson Tolentino of AMBA rolled a total of 1944 while the tandem of Papio de Dios and Elmer de Leon of SLETBA got 1256 to rule the doubles event.

Mil Tan, also of SLETBA, scored 968 to lead the singles event of the graded division while the pair of Nilol Bautista and Perry of SLETBA-GMTBC rolled an aggregate of 1229 in the doubles event.

In the Associate division, Mr. Cesar Guillo of BTBA topped the singles event with 864 and 2037 for the all events. SLETBA’s trio of Dennis Ramirez, Edel Ocampo and Larry Millan is ahead with 1862.
