RP cagers shock Chinese, sweep Hong Kong Super League

HONG KONG – RP-Burlington, drawing inspiration from the Filipino workers that came in droves, overwhelmed Guandong-China, 88-68, to complete a sweep and reign supreme in the Super League Kung Seung Cup Invitational Championships at the South Orn Gym, Chanwai here.

RP-Burlington’s main man Rommel Adducul, whose consistent performance earned him the Most Valuable Player award of the tournament, credited the team’s success to teamwork and hardwork.

"When we cagers go out (of the country), lumalabas talaga ‘yung sense of unity naming players. We really worked hard for this, from the coaching staff, down to the players and the rest of the team," said Adducul, who banged in 17 points.

RP-Burlington, which was supported by Accel, Burlington, Philippine Sports Commission and Air Freight 21, had earlier disposed of Malaysia and defending champion Hong Kong, which was reinforced by five naturalized Chinese players.
