Duran defends title vs Onate in Zambales

Samuel Duran defends his Philippine featherweight crown against top challenger Jeffrey Onate of Sta. Cruz, Zambales at the Zambales Gymnasium in Iba, Zambales tomorrow, starting at 6 p.m.
Duran is making his first defense of the title he won from Baby Lorona Jr. by split decision Dec. 22 last year.
Onate will have the home crowd in his favor in his bid to upset Duran, who defeated him in their first meeting in August last year.
Promoted by L. Marty Boxing Promotion in coordination with Rep. Ruben Torres and Gov. Vicente Magsaysay, the boxing event also features RP No. 3 flyweight contender Albert Cesa against RP No. 7 flyweight Franklin Macalibo. Also on tap in another 10-round bout is the fight between former RP superflyweight champion Eric Barcelona of Bukidnon and Joel Bauya who is being groomed by the L & M gym as another Manny Pacquaio in the making.
One eight-rounder, two six rounders and two four rounders complete the card. Admission ticket is priced at P100.<
