Olympic Day run draws huge field

Various events, including sports demonstrations, proper hydration clinic and running tips, will be staged together with the Olympic Day Run at 6 a.m. on June 30 at the CCP Complex in Pasay City.
The other activities are warm-up/stretching sessions, NSA (national sports association) parade and gift raffle.
Around 2,000 sports officials, athletes and enthusiasts are expected to compete in the 10K run, 3K wheelaton and 3K fun run.
Launched in 1987, Olympic Day, which is centered on the run, is celebrated annually in 199 countries around the world to focus interest on the Olympic Movement.
The event is organized by the Philippine Olympic Committee through its Sports for All Commission, Athletes Commission and Triathlon Association of the Philippines.
The Olympic Day Run is supported by the Philippine Sports Commission, the city governments and PNP of Manila, Pasay and Parañaque, Philippine National Red Cross, Department of Public Works and Highways, Spectrum Communications and Sports Medicine Association of the Philippines.
POC president Celso Dayrit and PSC chair Eric Buhain are expected to lead the participants.
All entries will be given t-shirts which they must wear during the race. A similar event will be held in Davao City also on June 30 with Vic Sai as the organizer.
Registration is going on at the POC office at RMSC and TRAP office at Philsports (formerly ULTRA).
