Arroyo Cup for youth project set

Project Oyster, a youth development program initiated by the police in cooperation with the various sectors of the society, is the prime beneficiary of the First Gentleman’s Cup, a golf tournament that will be staged by friends of Mike Arroyo on his birthday on June 27.

The First Gentleman has thrown his full support to the noble project as part of his low-key activities for the benefit of young people. Oyster stands for "Out-of-School Youth Serving Toward Economic Recovery."

Col. Antonio Cabangon Chua, head of the organizing committee, said: "We are happy that the First Gentleman has allowed himself to be used as a vehicle for helping the less fortunate, especially the out-of-school youth."

Project Oyster aims to give its beneficiaries skills training and make them active workers and members of society. It also aims to promote the image of the national police force.

The project is now being carried out by police districts all over the country in cooperation with national government agencies, local government units, business and economic groups, youth-oriented organizations and civic groups.
