The Enervon Tablet National Triathlon Championships, held simultaneously with recent ninth Subic International Triathlon inside the former American Naval Base in Subic Bay, has been described as a big success by Triathlon Association of the Philippines (TRAP) president Tom Carrasco.
Even as the foreign world-class triathletes from Australia, Japan, and Hongkong dominated the international competition, the Enervon National Traithlon Championships provided a bright spot for the day as national champions George Vilog and Ani Karina de Leon came up with their personal best records of 2:02.52 for Vilog and 2:27.34 for de Leon, both under the sub 2:05 and sub 2:30 standard clocking set by TRAP in both divisions for the triathletes to earn additional cash incentives.
"We always would like see out trathletes improving their winning times but this time we set the standards for them to break and in so doing, see drastic improvements in their performances, in the case of Vilog, he has regained his slot in the national team by virtue of his victory and good time in the Enervon National Triathlon championship," said Carrasco from whose pockets the P10,000 each cash incenties for Vilog and de Leon came from.
On their part, Enervon officials also expressed satisfaction at the turnout of their involvement. With the fast growing sport of triathlon, an event which projects well for their vitamin product, Enervon started its involvement with triathlon in the South as it also sponsored the national age group legs in Mindanao.
They are presently reviewing their plans for next year with the possibility of getting involved in TRAPs year-round developmental program a big possibility, something that was welcomed by Carrasco." "We will always welcome the entry of corporate sponsors for triathlon and we certainly hope that we will again be working hand in hand with Enervon next year," said Carrasco.
