Eduardo Buenavista, the new toast of Philippine athletics, leads the campaign of the celebrated GTKs Army and other promising Filipino tracksters in gunning for a revenge against long distance specialist Sivananda of India in the 3,000 meters.
"This third leg of the Asian Grand Prix is now very special. The first two legs in India and Thailand were so successful that even CNN beamed some of the action worldwide.
Most of the world is surely waiting for what will transpire in the Manila leg," said Maurice Nicolas, sec-gen of the Asian Amateur Athletics Association (4As).
Nicolas arrived here yesterday to join Philippine Amateur Track and Field Association Go Teng Kok in staging the last leg of the series which, in the formers own words, "already got worldwide attention."
The 4As took special notice of Buenavistas impressive performance in the India and Thailand editions where he placed a strong second to Sivananda in the 3,000 and 5,000m.
