Members of the RP team led the 26 players who qualified for the Powerbowl Perfect 300 Challenge finals set today at the Power Plant Mall in Rockwell Center.
Four-time World Cup champion Paeng Nepomuceno (2121) and Liza del Rosario (1944), runner-up in last years World Cup, were among those who made the cut at the end of the eliminations Thursday night in the meet sponsored by Prudential Guarantee, Windows Café, PLDT, Lockheed Group, Philippine-Sundt, Boysen Paints, Hi-Integra, Summa Kumagai Inc., Burgoo and Dish.
Also advancing to the finals were nationals Trixie de Luna (2135), Nico Valderrama (2106), RJ Bautista (2097), Joylyn (1911) and Joan Yambao (1847), Benny Dytoc (2042) and Paulo Valdez (2044).
Only de Luna though, had been automatically seeded to the second round of the finals for finishing fifth. The rest of the seeded players are eliminations topnotcher Lippy Uy (2213), Art Figueras (2187), Joonee Gatchalian (2182), David Kim (2165) and Kit Reyes (2124).
Additionally, Nepomuceno is doubtful to see action in the one-day championship as he is scheduled to leave the country for a tournament abroad.
The probable absence of the Filipino bowling great is expected to make the finals an all-out battle, where a P150,000 worth of gift certificates awaits the winner.
Also receiving prizes at the end of the meet being held in celebration of Powerbowls first year anniversary are the top eight finishers.
