A brand new Toyota Corolla, a Club Car golf cart, and a set of TaylorMade golf clubs are up for grabs as Forest Hills Golf Club launches its first member-guest tournament, The Forest Hills Invitational, today at the challenging par-71, Jack Nicklausdesigned golf course in Antipolo City.
Forest Hills chairman, lawyer Ferdinand Santos, leads the traditional hitting of the ceremonial ball together with Rizal Gov. Nini Ynares, Representatives Jack Duavit and Vic Sumulong, Antipolo City Mayor Angelito Gatlabayan, Fil-Estate Corp. chairman Robert Sobrepeña, Golforce Inc. president Roberto Escaño, and TaylorMade-Adidas sales and marketing manager Ernest Paguia.
Golforce Inc. and TaylorMade-Adidas are co-presenting this event together with major backers MRT Dev. Co., AST Security Corp., Joey @ 92.3, Pisanti and Turf Company. The Toyota Corolla is courtesy of Toyota Motors Philippines.
Other sponsors of the tournament are former Rep. Gilberto Duavit, CAP Group of Companies, Foodlink Inc., Fortune Tobacco, Gerrys Grill, Global Brands, Haagen Dazs, Lipovitan, Primepower Manpower Services, and Swatch Seasider.
"For our initial member-guest venture, we are very fortunate to have gotten the generous support of all the sponsors coupled with the enthusiasm of our members," said tournament director Victor de Guzman.
The tournament is a four-day affair with each team playing for two days using the Stableford Scoring System. All the teams will play best ball on the first day and then will use the aggregate on the second day of play.
Handicapping of the participants will be based on the following guidelines: Forest Hills members shall use their April 2002 Handicap Index while their guests must use their lowest April 2002 Handicap Index in any club which they are members of.
A Luau-style party has been set for the participants on the last day. Entertainers Subas Herrero and Noel Trinidad are the emcees of the awarding ceremony while the Moonstrucks Band, noted for the rendition of sounds from the 60s and 70s, is the guest performer.
