Buhain to grace Abalos Cup meet

Philippine Sports Commission chairman Eric Buhain will lead the guests of honor when the second Benhur Abalos Cup kicks off Friday at 6 p.m. at the city gymnasium.
Four thousand young athletes from the citys 27 barangays will vie for 612 medals in 12 events, the citys biggest inter-barangay sports Olympic this summer.
The 12 events consist of team and individual competitions such as basketball, volleyball, dart, chess, billiard, table tennis, lawn tennis, badminton, bowling, karatedo, swimming and track and field.
Players will play under two divisions, namely: the midget and novice. Midget division is for players 12 years old and below, and novice division is for athletes 13 years old and above.
In swimming, participants will compete in the freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke events, both in 25-and 50-meter events.
