DILG, PSC endorse 6th Nestea beach volleyball

Interior and Local Government Secretary Joey Lina and Philippine Sports Commission chairman Eric Buhain officially endorsed the sixth Nestea Beach Volley University Championships in their speeches during the opening ceremony of the tournaments Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao elimination rounds last week at the La Salle Green Hills sand court.
The two officials expressed their appreciation for Nesteas efforts to promote beach volleyball in this country and to make the promotion of sport as a top priority among other activities.
Lina also expressed his approval of the competition, saying the competition augurs well for the future of sports development in the country.
Speaking for the Philippine Sports Commission, Buhain earlier lauded the sixth Nestea Beach Volley University Championships for "providing the youth a training ground to further develop and hone their skills by giving them the opportunity to compete with other schools." And thus said that, "The Philippine Sports Commission is happy and proud to endorse the tournament."
Buhain was himself a former athlete and represented the country in international athletic events, but in the sport of swimming.
The Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao elimination rounds will determine the group of eight quarterfinalists that will join Metro Manilas eight quarterfinalists in the tournaments Boracay leg which will be held May 11-12. Metro Manilas eight qualifying teams were determined earlier this month during an elimination round held also at the La Salle Green Hills.
The sixth Nestea Beach Volley University Championships was made possible by sponsors Speedo, the official outfitter, Asian Spirit, the Peoples Airline, Astring-O-Sol Ice, Mikasa, Kenny Rogers, WG&A Superferry, Carls Jr., Boracay resorts: Boracay Gold Crowne, Club, Villa de Oro, Club 10 Beach Resort, Crystal Sand, Alyssa Resort, and Boracay bars and restaurant: Club Bazurra, Summer Place, Caribo, and Hey Jude Bar and Restaurant. The event was organized by J. Romero Events in cooperation with La Salle Green Hills Club Volle.
