The Hong Kong-based Asian Golf Monthly magazine has adjudged the Masters course of the Manila Southwoods Golf and Country Club as one of the winners in the 2001 Asian Golf Monthly Awards.
Manila Southwoods golf director Jeric Hechanova received an email dated March 5, 2002 from Asian Golf Monthly publisher Spencer Robinson confirming the award for the Best Course in the Philippines category.
"The award was based on votes cast by Asian Golf Monthly readers around the Asia Pacific Regon," Hechanova said.
Manila Southwoods, site of numerous Philippine Opens and the World Amateur in 1996, will be presented with a commemorative certificate.
Hechanova added that the Masters course, together with the Legends course (Manila Southwoods other all-weather championship course), is maintained in its best possible condition all year-round thereby making it a perfect golfers haven.
