Kitty Hawk swept past a fading Going Free at the far turn yesterday and went on to post a six-length victory in the Philtobo Gintong Lahi Distaff stakes race at the San Lazaro Hippodrome.
The four-year-old galloper owned by Michael Trillana spent most of the 1,900-meter race behind early pacesetters Going Free, Project Genesis and Heavenly before stepping on the gas.
After taking the lead, Kitty Hawk never looked back en route to victory worth P240,000. Heavenly took P90,000 for second followed by Going Free with P50,000 and Sharons Cookie with P20,000.
Pat Dilema, who steered Prince Valiant to victory in a Sweepstakes race earlier in the day, guided Kitty Hawk to victory, clocking 2:01.5 with quartertimes of 17-24-25-26-28.
"Sinuwerte lang," said Dilema of Kitty Hawk, which accounted for only P165,506 out of the total sales of P1,344,964. Ramon Romualdez
